Job summary

St. Tammany Health System is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization, storage, and distribution of sterile medical devices.

The role ensures safe handling of instruments and equipment and supports case cart preparation for scheduled surgeries. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, basic medical terminology and anatomy knowledge, and 1 year of sterile processing experience or completion of the STHS apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent is required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in Sterile Processing preferred, or successful completion of apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Demontrates competence in all aspects of sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, and distribution of sterile medical devices.
• Tests, monitors, and operates sterile processing equipment.
• May pull instruments and supplies for case carts for scheduled surgical cases.
