Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician. This role supports decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of sterile medical devices, ensuring safety and efficiency in the surgical suite.

You will test and monitor sterile processing equipment, and may pull instruments for case carts for scheduled surgeries. A high school diploma is required, with CBSPD or CRCST certification to be completed within 12 months of hire;

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Experience in Sterile Processing preferred or completion of STHS apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in sterile processing including decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of sterile devices.
• Monitors and operates sterile processing equipment and handles instruments safely.
• May prepare instruments for case carts for scheduled surgical cases.
