Job summary

St. Tammany Health System seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution of sterile medical devices.

You will test and monitor equipment and may assist with case-cart preparation for surgeries. Requirements include high school diploma, basic medical terminology, and 1 year of sterile processing experience or completion of the STHS apprenticeship; certification (CBSPD/CRCST or as eligible within 12 months) is

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent is required.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Minimum of one year experience in Sterile Processing preferred, or successful completion of STHS apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competence in decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage and distribution of sterile medical devices.
• Tests, monitors, and operates sterile processing equipment; may pull instruments for case carts for surgeries.
