Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for the Evening shift (2p-10:30p) with call. This role performs decontamination, preparation and sterilization of central sterile trays and instruments, ensures inventory accuracy and data entry, and supports patient charge card batching.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, at least two years of Central Sterile Tech experience in acute care, and current BLS certification; Central Supply

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required for new hires.
• At least two years experience as Central Sterile Technician required; acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, preparation, and sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment.
• Inventory management, restocking of supplies, and data entry including patient charge card batching.
• Demonstrates knowledge of department locations within the facility and effective communication.

Responsibilities

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies, computer data entry and patient charge card batching. Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required; in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification, preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
