Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL is seeking a Central Sterile Technician for the evening shift. Responsibilities include decontamination, preparation and sterilization of trays and instruments, managing supplies, and performing data entry and charge batch processing.

Strong communication skills are essential in a fast-paced hospital setting. Required education includes a high school diploma; two years of CST experience preferred, with Central Supply Certified and BLS (AHA) certifications

Overview

Department: Medical Supplies

Schedule: Full Time 3p-11:30p with rotating call on weekends and holidays (must be within a 60 minute commute for call)

Facility: Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital

Location: Evanston, IL

Responsibilities

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination, preparation, sterilization of Central Sterile trays, instruments, equipment, inventory and restocking of supplies, computer data entry and patient charge card batching. Demonstrates knowledge of all department locations within facility and ability to access all departments. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrates detailed awareness and knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires effective April 2014.
• Two (2) years’ experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification, preferred
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate, preferred

Facility Specific Requirements (as Applicable Required)

• At least two (2) years experience as a Central Sterile Technician required
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate.
• Central Supply Certified certification required
• Central Supply Certified certification required within two years from date of hire at designated facilities
