Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Sterile Processing/ SPD role to ensure availability of cleaned, prepared, and sterilized equipment for surgical procedures. You will support clinical operations across OR and satellite sites and work with SPD leadership to maintain instrument readiness.

The role emphasizes adherence to sterile processing standards, strong data entry and communication skills, and the ability to perform under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties.
• Provides supplies as needed for surgical procedures.
• Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment according to Manufacturer's Instructions For Use (MIFU).
• Inspects, packages, and reassembles surgical instruments and trays according to established priority.
• Practices High Level Disinfection, Pre-Vacuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement Sterilization, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma Sterilization techniques per MIFUs.
• Maintains records and document control per SOPs and regulatory guidance.
• Adapts communication to patient population and secures permissions as needed.
• Other related duties as required.
