Job summary

Mercy Hospital is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to promote quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring efficient flow in the Sterile Processing department. You will decontaminate, process, sterilize, and distribute instruments and supplies, while maintaining meticulous records to comply with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.

You will operate sterilization equipment, monitor performance, and prepare for regulatory assessments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification within 18 months of hire or transfer required.
• Six months of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using prescribed methods (steam, Sterrad, etc.).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy.
• Understands basic principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.
• Packages items to promote successful sterilization.
• Follows manufacturer IFUs and maintains sanitation of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas.
• Validates proper functioning of equipment using mechanical and biological monitors.
