Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Durango, CO is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech to promote patient safety by ensuring efficient flow in the Sterile Processing department. You will decontaminate, process, sterilize, and distribute instruments and supplies for the OR.

You will operate sterilization equipment, keep meticulous records in line with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards, and participate in surveys and regulatory readiness. Strong attention to detail and safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.
• Six months of sterile processing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes supplies and instruments using the prescribed methods (e.g., steam, Sterrad gas plasma).
• Operates washer/decontaminator per department policy and procedure.
• Understands the principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.
• Packages items to promote successful sterilization and follows IFU recommendations.
• Maintains cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas and verifies equipment function with monitors.
