Job summary

Orlando Health, Inc. is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support sterile processing across the surgical services for Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The role focuses on cleaning, decontamination, packaging, sterilization and distribution of instrument trays for surgical cases. The candidate will work under the SPD leadership, participate in preceptorship, and ensure compliance with infection control standards to protect patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Nationally certified through HSPA or CBSPD, or SPD readiness course completion is required within the first year.
• Minimum of one year of experience in sterile processing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the sterilization process from cleaning to distribution of instrument trays.
• Ensure daily record keeping and monitoring of chemical, mechanical, and biological processes.
• Precept and orient new team members in sterile processing.
• Distribute instrument trays for surgical case carts per schedule and surgeon’s cards.
• Consult with SPD Supervisor or Operations Specialist on unit activities.
• Ensure safe and infection-controlled environment for patient instrumentation.
