Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile processing, or a minimum of 9 months with SPD Readiness Course.
• Nationally certified through HSPA or CBSPD is preferred; CEUs maintained.

Responsibilities

• Has high professional and ethical standards in all aspects of the sterilization process.
• Uses knowledge of microbiology and infection control for processing instrumentation and equipment.
• Demonstrates understanding of instrumentation used in surgical procedures across a specialty.
• Proficient in decontamination of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Responsible for sterilization of instrumentation, equipment and supplies requested by customer departments.
• Maintains daily records and monitors chemical, mechanical, and biological processes.
