Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is seeking a Certified Lead Sterile Processing Technician for the Evening Shift. You will be a safety expert and trusted team leader, ensuring instruments are clean, sterilized, and ready for procedures while guiding colleagues to maintain a high standard of care.

You will inspect equipment, manage inventory, and lead the Sterile Processing team in a fast-paced environment, aligning with OR schedules and patient safety priorities.

Qualifications

• 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and trays to ensure readiness.
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and document cycles and safety checks.
• Prepare surgical sets and case carts based on daily schedules.
• Manage inventory and organize OR storage with the surgical team to keep surgeries on schedule.
• Lead and train the Sterile Processing team and model a safe, high-quality work environment.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Lead Sterile Processing Technician , you will be an invaluable safety expert and trusted leader on our team. You will use your precision and skills to keep every surgical instrument and supply clean, reliable, and ready when it matters most. You will also share your knowledge and guide your colleagues, helping create a safe, efficient environment where your team can thrive and where patients’ lives are improved every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing surgical instruments and trays to ensure every tool works properly and is ready for patient care
• Operating and maintaining sterilization equipment, while keeping detailed records of sterilization cycles, safety checks, and quality standards
• Preparing surgical sets and case carts by reviewing daily schedules and gathering the right instruments and supplies for each procedure
• Managing inventory, organizing supplies in OR storage areas, and working closely with the surgical team to help keep surgeries run smoothly and on time
• Leading and training the Sterile Processing team, sharing updates on new equipment and processes, and setting a positive example to support a safe, high-quality environment where teamwork thrives

What qualifications you will need: 3 years of Exp as a Sterile Processing Tech is Required.

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• High School Graduate / GED.
• (CRCST) Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or (CSPDT) Cert Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Is Required.
