The role requires handling instruments, performing quality checks, and preparing items for sterilization and case carts for the Operating Room. High School diploma and SPD certification within 18 months of hire are required.

Qualifications

• SPD certification is required within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials, instruments and equipment.
• Performs quality checks for cleanliness and proper functioning of instruments.
• Performs high level disinfection on items that cannot be sterilized.
• Assembles and wraps items for sterilization and prepares case carts.
• Sterilizes items by steam or ETO.
• Prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
