Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network in Allentown, PA is seeking a part-time Sterile Processing Technician for per diem coverage. The role involves decontamination, cleaning, assembling, and sterilizing medical devices and preparing case carts for the OR.

You will perform high-level disinfection and quality checks to ensure instrument integrity and sterilization readiness. Required qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, and SPD certification within 18 months of hire.

• On-the-job training provided during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials, instruments and devices from units and OR areas.
• Performs quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness and proper functioning of instruments.
• Performs high level disinfection (HLD) on items unable to sterilize.
• Assembles and wraps items for sterilization in correct packaging.
• Sterilizes wrapped items by steam or ETO as required.
• Prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
