Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to retrieve, decontaminate, assemble, process, sterilize, store and distribute medical devices and supplies used in patient care.

The role requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, with SPD certification within 18 months of hire and on-the-job training of at least eight weeks. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• SPD certification required within 18 months of hire.
• On-the-job training with 8 weeks minimum concentrated orientation.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials and equipment from hospital units and departments.
• Performs quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness and proper functioning of instruments.
• Assembles, wraps and sterilizes items; prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
• Maintains packaging integrity and clean, organized work area.
