Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician II (LAMC) for a full-time day shift. You will decontaminate, clean, assemble, sterilize, package, and distribute medical/surgical equipment in accordance with industry standards.

You will fill orders, operate sterilizers, maintain records, and support a collaborative SPD team while ensuring patient safety and equipment readiness across departments.

Qualifications

• Two years of Sterile Processing experience in an acute hospital setting.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Program with 400 clinical hours or a Surgical Technician program.
• Certification in Sterile Processing/Distribution or Central Service/Surgical Tech certification.

Responsibilities

• Fill orders from requesting departments.
• Perform equipment rounds and return soiled items to SPD; verify PM status and function.
• Answer phones.
• Inventory and restock supplies and carts per policy.
• Order specialty beds and equipment as needed.
• Disassemble, clean or decontaminate instruments per manufacturer guidance.
• Assemble and inspect OR sets per protocol.
• Operate all SPD equipment (steam/plasma sterilizers, ERs, washers).
• Maintain instrument tracking and sterilizer records.
• Check sterile packages for integrity.
• Prepare OR case carts according to preference cards.
• Promote customer service and collaborate with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
