Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join the Salem Hospital team. This full-time, night-shift role supports surgical services by decontaminating, sterilizing, and assembling instruments to ensure timely access for procedures. You will maintain safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include CRCST or CSPDT certification. Schedule is 9:00 pm–7:30 am, four 10-hour shifts (Tuesday–Friday).

Qualifications

  • Must hold either CRCST or CSPDT certification.
  • Experience in sterile processing preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate and prepare items following standards.
  • Prepare items for sterilization with correct procedures and labels.
  • Operate and maintain sterilizers and report issues.
  • Assemble and prepare case carts efficiently.
  • Handle surgical trays, instruments and drills with care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment

Department: Sterile Processing
Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Non-Exempt
Schedule: 9:00 pm - 7:30 am, four 10-hour shifts, Tuesday - Friday

What you\'ll do
  • Decontaminate and prepare itemsfollowing departmental standards and equipment guidelines.
  • Prepare items for sterilizationusing correct procedures, indicators, and labels.
  • Operate and maintains sterilizers, ensuring proper function and reporting maintenance issues.
  • Assemble and prepare case cartsefficiently and independently.
  • Handle and organize surgical trays, instruments, and drillsfor proper assembly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, identifying and addressing safety hazards.
Required qualifications
  • Must hold either a current Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification OR a current Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)certification.
