Job summary

White Plains Hospital Medical Center in White Plains, NY, seeks a detail-oriented Sterilization Technician to join the Materials Management department. You will perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and packaging of instruments, operate sterilizers and related equipment, and ensure proper documentation.

Education includes a High School Diploma; CRCST or CSPDT certification is required or grandfathering applies. Prior Central Supply or OR instrument processing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required or grandfathering.
• Previous Central Supply or Operating Room instrument processing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical technology preferred.
• Grandfathering: worked for a cumulative total of one year in the four years of Jan 2011 to Jan 2015.

Responsibilities

• Performs decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Operates and maintains sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, and related devices.
• Properly documents sterilization loads and biological tests.
• Selects appropriate sterilization methods and ensures correct packaging and labeling.
• Distributes and restocks medical supplies as needed.
• Ensures compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
