Westchester Medical Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to clean, disassemble, assemble, package, and sterilize instruments used across the health care facility. You will operate decontamination equipment and perform routine efficacy tests to ensure patient safety.

You will monitor quality, document sterilization records, and participate in a QA program while maintaining first-in/first-out inventory.

Qualificações

• Minimum one year experience in sterile processing preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must read, write, and communicate in English.
• Certification status within 18 months of employment if not certified.

Responsabilidades

• Disassemble and reassemble instruments; inspect for sharpness, functionality, and integrity.
• Package and label instruments correctly; use appropriate containers and seals.
• Select appropriate cleaning methods (handwash, mechanical wash, high-level disinfection) according to instrument type.
• Operate decontamination equipment; monitor temperature and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Conduct quality control and bioburden testing; document results per protocol.
• Maintain sterilization records and temperature logs; ensure traceability of tools and packs.
• Release instruments after sterilization following protocols; flag variations for follow-up.
• Rotate stock and manage shelf organization to support FIFO inventory control.
