Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Central Sterile Services Technician to perform sterilization procedures on medical instruments and equipment in accordance with established procedures and infection control standards. You will set up instrument sets, operate and maintain specialized equipment, and monitor inventory of sterile supplies to ensure availability for operative areas.

Two years’ experience in Central Service preferred; high school diploma required; certification in

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in Central Service preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in Central Service (IAHCSMM/CBSPD) preferred or eligible to obtain within 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Reprocesses and assembles specialized instruments used in operative areas.
• Operates washers, steam sterilizers, STERRAD and decontamination equipment.
• Tests steam sterilizers and washers and maintains records.
• Maintains inventory and ensures instrument availability.
• Lifts up to 50 lbs and transports items as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
