Job summary

Penn Medicine seeks a Central Service Technician to support the Operating Room by decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instrumentation. This role is a vital member of the Perioperative Services team, ensuring instruments are processed correctly and dispatched to the right locations.

The candidate will work under HIPAA and JCAHO standards, with a HS diploma or GED and CRCST certification within 18 months of hire, and 0–1 years of instrument processing

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Certification as Central Processing Technician or CRCST must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire.
• 0–1 years instrument processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes surgical instrumentation and linens.
• Follows priority lists, uses the instrument tracking system, and documents processing to ensure correct dispatch and patient care standards.
