Job summary

Sharp HealthCare seeks a Sterile Processing Department Technician I to process and distribute instruments and medical equipment for inpatient care, and to input patient charges.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years SPD or Surgical Technician experience; enrollment in a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician program with certification testing within 6 months of hire is expected.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
• 2 Years Sterile Processing Department (SPD) or Surgical Technician experience.
• Documentation of enrollment in a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician program or documentation of scheduled testing towards obtaining Certification required within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, clean working environment and infection control standards.
• Documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological tests to ensure efficacy.
• Operates SPD equipment (washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic cleaners, etc.) and handles sterile supplies.
• Distributes medical and surgical supplies to customers in a timely, quality manner.
• Trains new employees and supports department training and meetings.
