Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician in Louisville, KY to support decontamination, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments in the SPD. The role emphasizes preparing instrument sets, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with AAMI, AORN, and CDC guidelines.

The position includes providing preceptor support to other staff, operating processing equipment, and upholding safety and quality service for hospital departments.

Qualifications

• Understands policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
• Ability to provide preceptor support to other employees
• Knowledge of decontamination, sterilization and sterile storage processes

Responsibilities

• Answers calls and assists in obtaining items
• Assembles supplies and prepares case carts for procedures
• Delivers case carts to Surgery Department and other areas
• Maintains inventory of instrumentation and supplies
• Performs cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly and packaging of instruments
• Operates processing equipment and conducts sterilization monitoring
• Adheres to safety, HIPAA, and quality standards
• Acts as a preceptor for new employees
