Job summary

St. Luke’s University Health Network is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to support patient care by decontaminating, assembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies for the operating rooms and departments.

The role requires standing for long periods, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and completion of SPD certification within 18 months of hire. On-the-job training of at least eight weeks is provided; weekend on-call and holiday rotation participation is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• SPD certification required within 18 months of hire.
• On-the-job training with at least 8 weeks of orientation.
• Must be added to weekend on-call and holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves, sorts and decontaminates used materials, instruments, medical devices and equipment from multiple hospital areas according to procedures.
• Performs quality checks for cleanliness, sharpness and proper functioning of instruments.
• Performs high level disinfection (HLD) on items that cannot be sterilized.
• Assembles and wraps items for sterilization and prepares case carts for the Operating Room.
