Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, TX is seeking a Sterile Processing Professional to safeguard patient safety by ensuring surgical teams receive correct, sterile instrumentation. You will perform decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch with accuracy and professionalism.

You will expand your knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation, maintain a safe work area, and support infection control while delivering instruments with courtesy and focus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required upon hire.
• 1 year of applicable experience as determined by facility.
• Successful completion of a Sterile Processing Tech or Surgical Tech program from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Prepare work area at beginning of shift.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
• Participate in routine cleaning activities (sterilizers, surfaces, storage carts).
• Transport and decontaminate all soiled instrumentation and equipment to cleanliness and disinfection, dispose of infectious items per procedures.
• Maintain customer focus by answering calls promptly and responding to emergency requests.
• Ensure accurate assembly and packaging of instruments and equipment for sterilization; inspect and lubricate instruments and power equipment per manufacturer recommendations.
