Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our team in Minnesota. You will ensure instruments are properly decontaminated, cleaned, sterilized and prepared for surgical procedures, maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and infection control.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to procedures, and collaboration with surgical teams. 8-hour evening/night shifts with an occasional weekend schedule support the care we provide to patients.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description
• High school diploma or GED is preferred
• Experience in Sterile Processing or Vocational/Technical training/education in Instrument Specialist, Central Supply, or Surgical Technology preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides sterile equipment and supplies to surgery and other departments; includes decontamination, cleaning, sterilization and processing of supplies and equipment according to guidelines
• Performs decontamination, assembly and sterilization of surgical instrumentation per department policy and procedures
• Assembles instrument sets and trays accurately and packages/labels items for correct sterilization
• Follows infection control guidelines; operates washers/disinfectors, ultrasonic machine, high level disinfection and other core equipment
• Operates sterilizers safely and documents loads per standards; conducts quality assurance checks on equipment
• Pulls cases for next day, add-ons and emergency procedures; completes paperwork for compliant charging and billing of cases
