Job summary

Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee seeks a Sterile Processing Specialist to ensure sterility and readiness of surgical instruments and medical equipment for procedures. You will decontaminate, assemble trays, and support case carts while maintaining a safe, clean operating environment.

Minimum of a high school diploma is required; 1+ years of Sterile Processing experience is preferred. Certifications must be obtained within 18 months, and a 2nd shift (2:50pm-11:20pm) with weekend/holiday rotation

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Analytical ability to learn and differentiate instruments, supplies and equipment.
Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with physicians, nursing staff and patients/families.

Responsibilities

Receive, clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines.
Identify, inventory, inspect and assemble instrument trays for designated departments.
Ensure proper sterilization of prepared items.
Operate and maintain departmental equipment safely and efficiently.
Assemble and dispense case carts, supplies, and equipment for surgeries; set up specialty and emergency carts.
