Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee seeks a Sterile Processing Specialist to ensure sterility and readiness of surgical instruments and medical equipment for procedures. You will decontaminate, assemble trays, and support case carts while maintaining a safe, clean operating environment.
Minimum of a high school diploma is required; 1+ years of Sterile Processing experience is preferred. Certifications must be obtained within 18 months, and a 2nd shift (2:50pm-11:20pm) with weekend/holiday rotation

As a Sterile Processing Specialist, you become a key member of the patient care team by ensuring surgical instruments and medical equipment are clean, properly assembled, safely sterilized, and ready when needed. Your attention to detail helps create a safe environment where children can receive the best care possible.
Receive, clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines. Identifies, inventories, inspects and assembles surgical instrument trays for the designated departments. Provides for proper sterilization of prepared items. Operates and maintains departmental equipment in a safe and efficient manner and takes appropriate action. Assembles and dispenses case carts, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures. Set up and dispatch specialty carts and emergency carts according to procedures. Maintain work environment in a safe, clean orderly manner. Cleans scopes as needed per department demands.
High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required. 1+ years experience as a Sterile Processing Tech preferred. Analytical ability to learn and differentiate different types of instruments, supplies and equipment. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact with physicians, nursing staff and patients/families. Ability to stand and maneuver equipment for extended periods of time. Knowledge of complex instrumentation preferred. Basic knowledge and skill of computer use. Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required
CSPDT-Sterile Process Distribution Technician - Certification Board for Sterile Processing & Distribution OR CRCST-Certified Registered Central Service Technician - International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management within 18 months of hire.
2nd Shift Hours: 2:50pm-11:20pm Must also participate in weekend and Holiday rotation
