Job summary

UT Health East Texas is seeking an evening shift, full-time Sterile Processing Supervisor in Tyler, TX to supervise the reprocessing of surgical instruments and trays in adherence to DoH, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards. The role emphasizes training and ongoing communication with SPD staff to meet department goals.

You will coordinate day-to-day SPD operations, ensure safety and quality, and support a patient‑centered healthcare environment within UT Health East Texas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 4 years of hands-on SPD experience with one year of leadership, including lead experience.
• Active certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Provides support, training, and communication regarding the reprocessing of surgical instruments and trays to our facility in compliance with the Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards and facilities goals and policies.
• Coordinates and supervises day-to-day operations of SPD employees.
