Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare in Fredericksburg, VA seeks a Sterile Processing Supervisor to oversee decontamination, disinfection, washing, preparation, packaging, and terminal sterilization of surgical instruments. You will coordinate reprocessing, act as liaison with the OR, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

You will develop staff, monitor audits, manage costs, and maintain instrumentation and lab verifications to support safe patient care and 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• CRCST or CSPDT certification required at hire.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience preferred, preferably in Sterile Processing.
• Minimum 5 years in sterile reprocessing; knowledge of asepsis, instruments, disinfection and related SPD functions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate department staff and participate in recruitment.
• Maintain and review department shift reports and instrument tracking records.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures; manage costs within budget.
• Coordinate processing and reassembly of instrumentation with user departments.
• Oversee sterilization processes and weekly audits; coordinate lab verification of parameters.
• Ensure 24/7/365 coverage and appropriate staffing levels.
• Promote staff engagement, performance, and retention.
