Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the OR by delivering sterile instruments, decontaminating, packaging, and dispatching case carts in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 1 year healthcare experience (preferred), certification within 12 months, and strong teamwork, accuracy and compliance with HIPAA and AAMI/AORN guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Nationally recognized Sterile Processing certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Able to decontaminate all reusable instruments and sets.
• Knowledge of biological monitoring and sterilization standards.
• Effective communication with hospital staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Assembles supplies and case carts for procedures.
• Delivers case carts to Surgery and other departments.
• Performs decontamination, prep, pack, sterilization, and dispatch duties.
• Inspects and packages instruments for cleanliness and functionality.
• Operates processing equipment and monitors sterilization processes.
• Maintains organization, safety, and confidentiality per HIPAA.
