Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure availability of cleaned, prepared, sterilized equipment and supplies for surgical procedures. You will support direct patient care and operate across multiple facilities.

The role requires a high school diploma; preferred 2 years of sterile processing experience or related coursework. Certifications such as CRCST, CSPDT, or CFER are encouraged. A flexible schedule including weekends/holidays is often required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred 2 years of sterile processing experience or graduation from an accepted course in sterile processing or surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties.
• Provides supplies as needed for surgical procedures.
• Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment in accordance with MIFU.
• Inspects, packages, and reassembles surgical instruments and trays according to established priority.
• Practices various sterilization techniques per manufacturer instructions.
• Maintains records and documentation per SOPs and regulatory guidance.
• Adapts to patient population needs and communicates effectively.
