Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to ensure cleaned, prepared, and sterilized instruments for surgical procedures. You will support clinical operations, maintain instrument integrity, and follow MIFUs and regulatory standards.

The role requires high school diploma, applicable certifications, and strong data entry and organizational skills. Expect to work in a fast-paced clinical environment with adherence to safety and confidentiality policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in one of CRCST, CSPDT, or CFER (within six months of hire) or OR Certification in Surgical Technology.
• Knowledge of Windows-type applications; data entry and retrieval.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Performs general and specialized instrument care duties.
• Provides supplies as needed for surgical procedures.
• Disassembles and cleans critical reusable medical equipment per MIFU.
• Inspects, packages, and reassembles instruments and trays.
• Performs sterilization techniques (High Level Disinfection, Pr- Vacuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement, Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma) per MIFU.
• Maintains records and document control per SOPs and regulatory standards.
• Maintains patient privacy and adheres to compliance and safety standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
