Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX seeks a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare, decontaminate, and sterilize instruments for all hospital areas under close supervision. You will assemble trays, stock carts, and ensure instruments meet quality standards.

The role requires knowledge of sterilization procedures and safe handling of instruments, with preference for 6 months’ sterile processing or OR tech experience and a high school diploma or GED. This is a full-time position in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Six (6) months of Sterile Processing or Operating Room Technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by communicating them to others.
• Collects dirty equipment and instruments.
• Sorts, loads, unloads and decontaminates equipment and instruments according to procedures.
• Cleans, repackages, and sterilizes instruments according to procedures.
• Assembles trays, basin sets, packages, instruments and equipment and prepares items for sterilization.
• Decontaminates, restocks and assembles case carts and surgical trays.
• Ensures specialty carts are stocked and ready for immediate use.
• Performs quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure sterilization equipment and instruments are functioning properly.
• Inspects equipment, instruments, and packaging for cleanliness, defects and/or malfunctions.
• Documents sterilization cycle.
• Labels products with sterilization date.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
• Performs weekly inspections of all sterile items in the OR department.
• Checks outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilize processing area.
• Maintains and updates the instruments tray inventory list following policies and procedures.
