Job summary

DHR Health in Edinburg, TX is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to prepare, sterilize, and track instruments for multiple hospital areas. Under supervision, you will assemble trays, decontaminate equipment, and support OR teams.

Responsibilities include collecting dirty equipment, loading and sterilizing, labeling with dates, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. High school diploma or GED preferred, plus six months sterile processing or OR tech experience

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Six (6) months of Sterile Processing or Operating Room Technician experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Collects dirty equipment and instruments
• Sorts, loads, unload and decontaminate equipment and instruments according to procedures.
• Cleans, repackages, and sterilizes instruments according to procedures.
• Assembles trays, basin sets, packages, instruments and equipment and prepares items for sterilization
• Decontaminates, restocks and assembles case carts and surgical trays
• Ensures specialty carts are stocked and ready for immediate use
• Performs quality control through routine testing and cleaning to assure sterilization equipment and instruments are functioning properly.
• Inspect equipment, instruments, and packaging for cleanliness, defects and/or malfunctions.
• Document sterilization cycle
• Labels products with sterilization date
• Performs other duties as assigned or required
• Performs weekly inspections of all sterile items in the OR department
• Checks outdated items and package integrity of wrapped sterilize processing area
• Maintains and updates the instruments tray inventory list following policies and procedures.
