Job Description

Education and Work Experience

• Graduate of high school or GED equivalency required.
• Must be certified and maintain a certification in sterile processing form CRCST – HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution)
• Minimum of two (2) years of sterile processing experience in sterile processing and/or Operating Room.
• Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices.
• Knowledge of instrument names, functions, and specialty sets.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced certification (CIS, CER, CHL) preferred.
• Previous supervisory and/or education experience preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems.

Licensures, Registrations, Certifications

Physical Requirements

Continuous – 6 to 8 hours per shift; Frequent – 2 to 6 hours per shift; Infrequent – 0 to 2 hours per shift.

• Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, and working outside in temperature extremes.
• Ability to work from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, in kneeling positions, bend, twist at the waist, squat, perform pinching operations, and perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands.
• Ability to fully use both legs and lower extremities for balance and coordination.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted; lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted; lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs.; exert up to 50 lbs. of force as required.
• Ability to maintain vision 20/40 corrected; recognize objects close at hand or at a distance; discriminate between colors; determine distance/relationship between objects; good peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity, with correction; perform fine and gross motor movements; handle stressful situations.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime as required, and in a latex-safe environment; be qualified physically for respirator use if required.
