MUSC Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Educator to develop and conduct educational programs for staff. The role requires significant hospital experience in Sterile Processing and certification as a Sterile Processing Technician.
You will ensure compliance with operational goals and assist in updating data systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
The Sterile Processing Educator reports to the Sterile Processing Manager. Under limited supervision, the Educator develops and conducts education programs that enable staff to acquire and maintain the knowledge, rationales, certification and skills necessary to support operational and organizational goals. The educator will also assist in updating Instrument Tracking System Data and ensure all scanning protocols are followed consistently.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalency (GED) and three (3) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating work experience required. Will accept a bachelor’s degree in a healthcare or related field and two (2) years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or Operating Room. Previous supervisory and/or education experience preferred. Required work experience consists of training and ongoing education of staff with focus on compliance and meeting organization goals and expectations. Required Certified Registered Sterile Processing Technician through HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution). Must be skilled in computer operation and working with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Instrument Tracking System.
