Job summary

UPMC Altoona is seeking a Manager of Central Sterile Processing to oversee operations, quality, and staff development on a Monday–Friday day shift. The role requires leadership, budget accountability, and strategic planning within the Surgical Central Processing department.

The ideal candidate will bring an associate degree, 5 years in sterile processing or surgical technology, and at least 3 years of supervisory experience, plus certification credentials.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing, Business, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology.
• 3 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association; pass certification.
• 10 hours of continuing education annually.

Responsibilities

• Lead department operations, quality, and team development.
• Develop budgets and report variances to the Director.
• Promote optimal service management and policy recommendations.
• Mentor staff and coach on diversity and professional development.
• Collaborate with Purchasing to manage instrument tracking and sets.
• Represent Central Processing to hospital user groups on operations and finance.
