Job summary

UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA is seeking a Supervisor to coordinate daily operations within Central Processing, overseeing cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization and distribution for timely service. The role also provides staff supervision and serves as a resource for resolving service issues.

Schedule: Full-time, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with no holidays or weekends. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is offered for eligible certified technicians (2-year commitment).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years of central sterile processing experience.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory or team lead experience.
• Must complete 10 hours of continuing education annually to remain qualified as CSP staff.
• Must be able to stand for shift hours and lift 35 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations in Central Processing.
• Ensure instrument processing, cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization are completed efficiently.
• Provide supervision to CSP staff and mentor colleagues.
• Align daily work with safety and patient care goals.
• Collaborate to reduce instrument errors and improve CSP workflows.
• Share knowledge through presentations and improve practices across units.

Job Overview The Supervisor coordinates daily operations within the Central Processing department and ensures all instrument and equipment processing—cleaning/decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution is completed efficiently and accurately. This role also provides supervision to staff and serves as a resource for resolving service issues and answering customer questions.

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience in central sterile processing.
• 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
• Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
• Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association.
