Job summary

Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, CA is seeking an Assistant Manager in Sterile Processing to support daily operations and collaborate with OR leadership. This role focuses on maintaining high standards of decontamination, cleaning and sterilization and ensuring safe patient care across ambulatory perioperative sites.

The position requires an Associate’s degree (preferred) and at least one year of related experience.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a work-related field is preferred.
• One year of progressively responsible related work experience.
• Knowledge of Surgical Instrument Care, Cleaning, Handling, Wrapping and Sterilization.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties as assigned, following policy and procedures of Stanford Health Care and the Sterile Processing Department.
• Operates decontamination, cleaning and sterilization equipment.
• Assists in developing and implementing policies that support SHC goals.
• Helps develop and oversee an effective system of information, records and reports for the department.
• Assists in evaluating staffing requirements to ensure qualified personnel are available.
• Supports the manager in hiring staff, merit pay increases, and promotions.
• Mentors Supervisory personnel to coach, orient, and provide feedback to departmental personnel.
• Engages in lean learning and coaching of frontline staff with the manager and director.
