Job summary

The Sterile Processing Facilitator at SUNY Upstate Medical University serves as a key liaison between SPD and OR, coordinating instrument needs, room turnovers, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation for assigned sets.

This role collaborates with SPD and OR leadership to ensure instrumentation readiness for upcoming procedures, supports efficient workflow, and reports to the Sterile Processing Manager; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required with 3+ years of experience in sterilizing reusable surgical instrumentation and sets
• Progressive leadership experience is required
• Current certification through a nationally accredited central service credentialing organization (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT) or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instrument needs between the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and the Operating Room (OR) to support instrument availability
• Oversee room turnovers and sterilization of surgical instrumentation for assigned service sets
• Identify, report and help resolve instrument and equipment issues; maintain patient-focused environment
