Job summary

Cook Children's Medical Center is seeking an Instrument Technician, Lead to support the Sterile Processing department on the third shift. You will assist the coordinator and supervisor in daily workflow, manage reserve instrumentation, and serve as a liaison to the OR to expedite high-priority procedures.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Experience as an instrument technician of a minimum 5 years is recommended.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique, proper sterilization procedures, decontamination and assembly procedures per IAHCSMM, AAMI, AORN, AST, OSHA, JCAHO, The Joint commission, safety standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assists the coordinator/supervisor in the daily flow of work in the Sterile Processing department.
• Maintains adequate reserve inventory for assembly of instrument sets and equipment.
• Serves as liaison for surgery (OR) to expedite high priority surgical procedures and instruments.
• Provides mentoring to all staff on the unit as needed.
• Participates in Sterile Processing leadership and planning for the department.
• Maintains and prevents cross contamination by observing dress codes, environmental policies and traffic control.
