Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• 5+ years of instrument technician experience recommended.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique and sterilization procedures per IAHCSMM, AAMI, AORN, AST, OSHA, JCAHO, The Joint Commission, safety standards, hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sets and trays to include disassembly and cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Assist the coordinator/supervisor in the daily flow of work.
• Maintain adequate reserve inventory for assembly of instrument sets and equipment.
• Serve as liaison for surgery (OR) to expedite high priority surgical procedures and instruments.
• Provide mentoring to staff on the unit as needed.
• Participate in Sterile Processing leadership and planning for the department.
• Observe dress codes, environmental policies and safety standards.
