Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Sterile Processing Services Supervisor at the Aurora West Allis Medical Center. The role involves directing daily staff activities, coordinating instrument needs for surgeries, and ensuring high standards of sterilization and communication across OR teams.

The position requires a CRCST certification within 1 year, a high school diploma, and about 5 years of supervisory Central Service experience.

Qualifications

• Requires leadership and supervisory experience in Central Service or Materials Management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to interact across levels in the operating room.
• Thorough understanding of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation principles.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily work direction to staff, including scheduling, assignments, staff development, and performance evaluations.
• Coordinates instrumentation needs for all surgical procedures and monitors OR schedule for conflicts.
• Coordinates sterile processing services to meet instrumentation needs of user departments and maintains communication to resolve issues.
• Acts as liaison between Sterile Processing and OR staff, management, surgeons to ensure effective communication.
• Maintains inventory to provide adequate surgical instrumentation sets and collaborates with OR management on repairs or purchases.
• Implements quality assurance procedures for sterilization and decontamination per standards (Infection Control, JCAHO, AORN, OSHA).
• Performs HR responsibilities including coaching, performance reviews, hiring/term actions, and maintaining staff morale.
