Job summary

UF Health Jacksonville is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Lead to perform decontamination, cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. The Lead will supervise in the supervisor’s absence and mentor staff in a Level I Trauma Center environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, with CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification within 6 months preferred. Experience in SPD and a commitment to patient safety are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Required: High School Diploma or GED.
• Preferred: Central Service Certification (CBSPD or IAHCSMM) within 6 months of hire (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, sterilization, and reprocessing of patient equipment and surgical instruments.
• Assist and mentor department staff; conduct in-service education.
• Oversee SPD operations in the supervisor's absence.
• Collaborate with hospital departments to ensure sterile processing standards.
