Job summary

Sharp Tri-City Medical Center is seeking a Sterile Processing Tech Intern for the Evening shift at the Main Campus (4002 Vista Way). The role supports processing and distribution of instruments and medical equipment used in in-patient care, and inputs patient charges.

You will work under supervision to decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize instruments per protocol. Required: HS Diploma or equivalent, enrolled in Sterile Processing certification program, and certification within 8 months of

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Documentation of currently enrolled in a Sterile Processing certification program.
• Certification obtained within 8 months of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a safe, clean working environment and infection control requirements.
• Documents and verifies sterilization loads and biological tests.
• Documents washer check tests and ultrasonic test results.
• Handles decontamination, assembly, sterilization methods, and high-level disinfection as required.
• Stores, distributes, and delivers patient care equipment and supplies.
• Operates SPD equipment (steam, gas plasma, washer/disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, heat sealers).
• Maintains inventory controls and communicates supply issues promptly.
• Serves as a resource to customers and assists training new employees.

Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent

Enrolled in Sterile Processing certification program

Certification obtained within 8 months of hire
