Job summary

Mercy in Rogers, AR seeks a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician Lead to supervise and ensure decontamination, processing and sterilization of instruments following Manufacturer's Instructions for Use. The role emphasizes accuracy, documentation, and adherence to department policies.

You will maintain logs, prioritize instrumentation, answer telephones, and dispatch equipment while upholding Mercy's mission, values and service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 18 months experience in Sterile Processing or 1600 hours of hands-on work.
• Maintain CRCST or CSPDT certification; CEU hours required; CIS/CER/CHL recommended.

Responsibilities

• Follow decontamination, processing, high level disinfection and sterilization procedures.
• Accurately maintain written logs or computer system documentation.

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician Lead, under general supervision follows robust processes in Decontamination, Processing and Sterilization by cleaning instruments and equipment ensuring that all items are free of any bioburden, inspecting, function testing and assembling instruments and equipment for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician always follows the Manufacturer's Instructions for Use in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection & Sterilization as well as Department and Hospital Processes and Policies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able accurately maintain the required documentation on written logs and/or computer systems. Documentation includes processes in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection or Sterilization as well as Sterile Processing Department Equipment. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able to prioritize instrumentation for processing, answer telephones and dispatch instrumentation, equipment and supplies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician performs their duties in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards. Performs other duties as assigned

Position Details:

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school graduate or equivalent
Experience: Minimum 18 months experience in Sterile Processing or 1600 hours of hands‑on experience in Sterile Processing.
Certifications: Maintain CRCST or CSPDT Certification through HSPA or CBSPD by completing required CEU hours. Recommend obtaining additional Sterile Processing Certifications of CIS, CER &/or CHL.

• PROF062- Preceptor Workshop & PROF358- Preceptor Workshop Pre-course Curriculum completion within 6 months of hire.

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Must be able to operate equipment.
