Job summary

Mercy in Washington state is seeking a Sterile Processing Instrument Technician II to ensure instruments are properly decontaminated, processed and sterilized in alignment with Manufacturer Instructions and Mercy policies.

The role requires 6 months of Sterile Processing experience (or 400 hours) with basic computer skills; CRCST or CSPDT certification is preferred. Shift is 2:00pm-10:30pm, with duties including documentation and equipment dispatch.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months experience in Sterile Processing or 400 hours hands-on experience.
• CRCST Certification through HSPA or CSPDT through CBSPD preferred.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Clean instruments and equipment in Decontamination, Processing and Sterilization.
• Follow Manufacturer's Instructions for Use and hospital policies.
• Maintain documentation of processes in logs/computer systems.
• Prioritize instrumentation, answer phones and dispatch equipment and supplies.

The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician II, under general supervision follows robust processes in Decontamination, Processing and Sterilization by cleaning instruments and equipment ensuring that all items are free of any bioburden, inspecting, function testing and assembling instruments and equipment for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization. The Sterile Processing Technician always follows the Manufacturer's Instructions for Use in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection & Sterilization as well as Department and Hospital Processes and Policies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able accurately maintain the required documentation on written logs and/or computer systems. Documentation includes processes in Decontamination, Processing, High Level Disinfection or Sterilization as well as Sterile Processing Department Equipment. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician must be able to prioritize instrumentation for processing, answer telephones and dispatch instrumentation, equipment and supplies. The Sterile Processing Instrument Technician performs their duties in a manner consistent with our Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Details

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent
• Experience: Minimum 6 months experience in Sterile Processing or 400 hours of hands on experience in Sterile Processing, preferred
• Certifications: CRCST Certification through HSPA or CSPDT through CBSPD, preferred
• Other: Basic computer skills

• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Must interact with staff and co-workers across a diverse range of disciplines.
