Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale New Haven Health, seeks a Materials Management Technician for Central Sterile and related areas. You will manage inventory, perpetual records, par levels, and procurement of instruments and supplies for CSS, OR, ER and clinics, ensuring accurate stocking and timeous replenishment.

Requires HS diploma, 2–3 years in Materials Management with budget monitoring, IAHCSMM certification within 2 years of hire, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Two to three years experience in Materials Management and budget monitoring.
• Experience in OR or CSS preferred.
• IAHCSMM certification required within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily shelf counts of medical and surgical supplies using a handheld computer.
• Maintain and update par levels, bin, shelf, and cart locations.
• Conduct daily manual inventory checks and replenish wrapped sterile items.
• Collect instruments and power equipment for repair and coordinate with vendors.
• Prepare purchase order requisitions and fax orders to purchasing for immediate response.
• Maintain accurate files of outside purchase orders and replenish inventory as needed.
• Work with Purchasing and Storeroom to resolve back orders and substitutions.
• Produce monthly CSS/OR purchasing cost and instrument repair reports.
