Job summary

Advocate Health in North Carolina seeks a Sterile Processing Instrument Specialist to ensure instruments are properly managed, repaired, and prepared for surgeries. You will work to maintain accurate logs, coordinate with vendors, and support SPD and OR teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum two years of Sterile Processing experience.
• CSPDT certification required.
• Surgical Instrument Specialist certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instrument repairs with vendors and track off-site repairs.
• Assess case schedules to remove instrument sets for maintenance.
• Manage loaner, vendor, and trial instrument sets procurement and return.
• Order instruments and supplies based on inventory and budget goals.
• Assist with instrument recalls to support patient safety.
• Maintain the instrument tracking system and build count sheets.
• Collaborate with SPD Liaisons to ensure complete sets.
• Communicate instrument availability with SPD Supervisors and OR Coordinators.
• Serve as SME across the sterile processing cycle and provide guidance.
• Support special projects and interdepartmental committees.
• Assist Sterile Processing staffing as needed.
