Job summary

Oakland Community College seeks a Clinical Preceptor Instructor for the Sterile Processing Technician Program. You will educate and train students with hands-on clinical experiences in healthcare facilities, demonstrating sterile processing techniques and supervising student performance in real settings.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required for teaching and mentoring students.
• Ability to lead and model best practices in clinical and academic settings.
• Experience engaging students to think critically and work in diverse teams.
• Prior teaching, training, or supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments.
• Coordinate with lead instructor to align clinical topics with coursework.
• Serve as primary preceptor during clinical rotations at partner facilities; provide feedback.
• Model infection control, instrument handling, documentation, and professional communication.
• Help students apply classroom knowledge to real-life sterile processing scenarios.
• Evaluate student performance on a daily/weekly basis and complete evaluation forms.
• Collaborate with clinical coordinator to monitor progress and certification readiness.
• Act as liaison between Oakland Community College and clinical sites.
• Perform related duties and additional hours as needed.
